On the 30th of August, 2022, Doug Mann sadly notified the Class of Kevin’s unfortunate passing:

It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know that our classmate, Kevin Johnston, passed away on Friday, the 26th of August, 2022 after a long battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bernadine, their two children, Matthew and Amelia, and his brother Keith and family. My understanding is that Kevin is being cremated in Ottawa and will be buried with his parents in Regina at a later date. Rest In Peace Kevin! Doug and Crystal Mann

Condolences:

Pete Avis: Rest in Peace, KJ.

Reg Best: Sad news.  I remember meeting Kevin and Keith at enrolment in Regina. Boy, what an intimidating pair. It didn't take long to find out what great guys they were. Though I really could only tell them apart because Kevin was in the Navy. Gone way too soon.

Kevin and Christine Biggar:  What a great guy and friend Kevin was.  I too benefitted from the knowledge, skill, and mentoring from the Johnston twins on the wrestling team. They were skilled and driven competitors with a series of championship medals in the sport before they came to Roads.

I recall at BOTC Kevin and Richard Greenwood were in my platoon. After spending a summer with them I came to better know what a great guy Kevin was. It also allowed me to finally tell the difference between both sets of great twins we had in our class.  Sincerest condolences to the Johnston clans.  RIP Kevin

Gary and Micheline Bruce:  Such sad news.  Such good memories of both the Johnston twins during our first year!  Condolences to the Johnson family.

Darcy Byrtus:  Kevin was always a gentleman and a good teammate. Condolences to his family. RIP Kevin.

Doug Fawcett: Sad news. My condolences to Kevin’s family.

Jerry Horel:  Sad news, condolences to his family

Barry Klein:  Sorry to hear this about Kevin. A real gentleman and a true competitor. My condolences to the Johnston clan. … I remember thinking, after one of our IM rugby games vs. LaSalle Flight, that I should remember to get rid of the rugby ball before Kevin arrives at my exact location.

Don McLeod:  Such sad news!  Keven was a great guy and he will be missed!  Sincere condolences to the entire Johnston family!

Scotty Mills: This is indeed sad news. I know he hasn't been well in some time but he used to be a regular at the class lunches in Ottawa up until COVID.  He will be missed. RIP Kevin.

Todd Moxley:  So sorry to hear. Kevin was a great guy. I always enjoyed his company. We were on the wrestling team together at Roads and he taught me a lot. RIP

Walt Natynczyk:  So very sad to hear this news of Kevin’s passing. He will be missed. Kevin was a determined competitor, especially in wrestling, but he was always a gentleman and was very kind. We will remember him.

John Slater:  Unfortunate news indeed, another Bud gone.

Randy Smith:  Great guy!  Kind person!  What really matters in life.

Al Stewart: Very sad to hear. Both Kevin and Keith were great guys.

Gerry Vienneau: Sad news … rest in peace Kevin

Andrew Tomaszewski:  This is such sad news. Kevin was a great guy. I still remember his wry smile.  Condolences to his family. RIP Kevin

Steve Zuber:  Sorry to hear this sad news. My condolences to the family.
