Editor’s Note: As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic pretty much affected every one of us and our families. These are their stories!!
Larry Richardson:
Larry and his wife Pat were one of the few who were bound and determined that the pandemic was not going to stop them from being snowbirds in late 2020, even after all the challenges of getting back in to Canada from Florida after the first wave hit in early 2020. Larry sent a note at the end of April, 2021 to say “Pat and I made it back to Kingston safe and sound. Quite an adventure - two COVID tests completed (thankfully negative) - one more to go on our 8th day of quarantine. We had a lot of help on our trip. John Young drove us to the St Petersburg airport; John Anna picked us up at Syracuse airport and drove us to Lansdowne border crossing; and [since we could only cross the border by walking], John Stewart delivered our car to Canadian border parking lot. The moral of this story is you can never have too many John's in your life (Ed’s Note: Especially as you get older …!)
The picture to the right shows Larry in quarantine at his Kinston Mills home, wearing COVID-19 Dress of the Day, ie, pajamas and mask. Helping to deliver food supplies is fellow UTPM Steve Kelly, who is appropriately following government COVID protocols with mask, protective gloves and “six foot” social distancing supply pole. UN beret was a last minute touch to match the rest of his outfit!
